Short description

The twenty university libraries of the federal universities in Austria are cooperating in a large number of projects. With their inventory, the university libraries, together with the National Library, form the core of the National Library Network, comprising more than 80 members.

National joint projects

  • Austrian Academic Library Consortium
    Established in 2005 on the initiative of the university libraries; the conclusion of more than 50 consortium agreements for databases and electronic journals provided particularly favourable conditions for all the consortium partners

  • Electronic Journals Library (EZB)
    Jointly operated platform, which offers quick, structured, homogeneous access to more than 50,000 journals and in which some 540 libraries participate

    Joint service for the use of scientific databases

    European library network, which serves the purpose of making books dating from 1500 to 1900 available as electronic books
